## How to measure trousers correctly before shortening

Five steps to determine the right hem length — come in with the right measurement.

1. **Pick the right shoes** — Put on the shoes you wear most often with these trousers. Heel height changes the hem by two to three centimetres.
2. **Stand upright** — Stand straight on a firm floor, weight evenly on both legs. No arching, no tucked pelvis.
3. **Wear the trousers properly** — The trousers sit at the waist where you actually wear them — not pulled up, not slipped down.
4. **Mark the hem** — Use pins or chalk to mark the desired hem edge — at mid-shoe or just above, depending on the cut.
5. **Bring the shoes when you come in** — We check the measurement again at the machine. Bring the shoes — we measure once more and shorten.

## Original hem or standard hem?

For jeans you choose between a standard hem (cleanly turned and sewn) and an original hem (keeping the factory edge). Original hem takes more work — from €16. Standard hem from €12 (jeans), from €15 (suit trousers, chinos).

## How it works in the workshop

Six steps from walking in to picking up.

1. **Walk in without an appointment** — Measuring usually takes 15 minutes. Bring the shoes you will wear.
2. **Fitting** — You put the trousers on, we pin the hem edge.
3. **Note the order** — Pickup date, hem type, price. Written down properly, not on a scrap of paper.
4. **Workshop time** — One to three working days. For several pairs, let us know in advance and we'll plan the slot.
5. **Fitting before handover** — Before you take the trousers home, put them on once more. On-the-spot corrections possible.
6. **Pickup** — Payment on pickup in cash or by debit card.

Gross prices. Final price depends on fabric and complexity. Waistband and crease adjustments may be added.

## DIY or to the tailor?

For a single pair of trousers a tailor is usually worth it: €12 for a clean hem on an industrial machine, ready in a few days. DIY makes sense only if you have a sewing machine, the right thread and some practice. For suit trousers with turn-ups, or an original hem on jeans: always go to a tailor.
