Occasions & celebrations

  • The first suit, the first proper gown — and almost always bought a size too big. We shorten sleeves, trouser legs and hems and take in the waist so everything fits on the big day. Also for confirmation and communion outfits. In spring it pays to come early.

  • Hemming a floor-length gown to heel height, securing straps, adjusting the bodice, fitting the suit — so the night belongs to you, not to your hem. In ball season, come early to leave room for a second fitting.

  • The shirt too long, the trousers slipping, the dress trailing — children's clothing is rarely cut for the first day of school. We shorten and adjust, happily leaving hem allowance to grow into. And if the parents have something smart that needs sorting too: just bring it along.

  • The dress for the wedding almost fits — almost isn't enough. We take up hems, shorten sleeves, adjust waists and straps, and get the mother-of-the-bride outfit and the best man's suit into shape too. Usually within one to two working days, so you can relax and enjoy the day.

  • Your mother's inherited Dirndl, the flea-market find, the Tracht for Oktoberfest: we shorten the length, take the bodice in or let it out, move hooks and set the apron right. Traditional Lederhosen too — we know leather. Before the Wiesn season in September, come early.

  • Shortening an Áo Dài, taking it in or letting it out, closures and small repairs — careful handwork for the Vietnamese ceremonial dress, whether for Tết, a wedding or a family celebration. Our Baumschulenstraße workshop is a family business with Vietnamese roots — we know what an Áo Dài means.

Specialties

  • Memory pieces

    from €89

A bear from dad's flannel shirt, a cushion from grandma's favourite blouse, your own wedding dress carried on as a christening gown — from clothing that holds a story, we sew pieces to keep. Gently, by hand, arranged personally in the workshop. Take your time; we take ours too.

  • A moth hole in the cashmere jumper, a burn hole in the suit, a tear in your favourite coat — with invisible mending (Kunststopfen) we rebuild the weave thread by thread until the damage is hard to find. Bring the piece in, or send it by post: photo and quote first, then send it off.

  • A broken zip on the tent or backpack, a tear in the rain jacket, a worn-through horse rug, a boat cover, dog gear or the embroidered club flag — our machines sew heavy fabrics and leather too. For stables and clubs we take on whole batches by arrangement.
