How fast it is

Most wedding dresses are ready in one to two working days — a shortened hem, straps or a seam often the same day. Elaborate work on multi-layered tulle, an integrated bodice or full-length lace takes longer; we tell you firmly at the fitting. While many bridal studios advise 8–12 weeks of lead time, with us you don't have to plan weeks ahead — come by when the dress is in your hands and the wedding is getting close.

What we alter on a wedding dress

The most common bridal alteration work.

  • Shortening the hem — matched to your heel height, single-layer or through tulle, lace and lining.
  • Fit at waist and bust — taken in or let out, with precisely placed darts.
  • Adjusting the bodice — lacing, boning and the order of layers.
  • Shortening, moving or re-sewing straps — against slipping and for the right neckline height.
  • Replacing a zip — when it sticks or has burst.
  • Securing the train — bustle loops for dancing, spare buttons included.

How the alteration works

From the fitting to the finished dress.

  1. 01

    Book an appointment

Bridal fittings run by appointment — we take time for a calm pinning. Bring the shoes you'll wear on the day and the right underwear.

  2. 02

    Fitting & pinning

We pin hem, fit, bodice and straps directly on the body. We give you a firm price and pickup day; a deposit is taken on order acceptance.

  3. 03

    Workshop

The work usually takes one to two working days. For elaborate layers, bodice or sequins, we tell you up front when it'll take longer.

  4. 04

    Pickup

Balance on pickup, cash or debit card. We sew bustle loops onto the train and send spare buttons with you.

What to bring to the fitting

So hem and fit are right on the first go.

  • The shoes you'll wear — heel height changes the hem by several centimetres.
  • Bra or bustier in the bridal colour — strap length depends on it.
  • Tights or an underskirt, if planned.
  • A companion who can help you in and out of the dress.
  • Photos of detail wishes (Pinterest, salon shots) — words alone often aren't enough.

Elaborate dresses — bodice and multi-layered lace

Heavy tulle, full-length lace and an integrated bodice take more time than single-layer crêpe — for elaborate dresses, several working days or a second fitting may be needed. We unpick sequins along the hem edge by hand and set them back afterwards. We say openly what works cleanly — and what doesn't. Civil and church ceremonies on different days? Please tell us both, we set the pickup around the later one.

If the wedding is right around the corner

Plain hem work we can often do the same day — please call ahead so we keep a slot free. Straps, small seams and zip replacements also work at short notice. Elaborate bodice or fit work on multi-layered dresses we can't reliably promise at the last minute — better an honest no than visible botched work on the day.

Frequently asked questions about wedding dress alterations

Most wedding dresses are ready in one to two working days. Plain hem work often the same day. Only elaborate work on multi-layered lace, a bodice or sequins takes longer — we tell you firmly at the fitting.
